The Voivodeship of Wielkopolska, LP of the project, was created in 1999 as an effect of the administration reform which main objective was the preparation of Polish administration for the implementation of Structural Funds. Poznan, the capital of Wielkopolska region is a centre of research and university education, also famous for the Poznan International Fair.
Even though the airport is located 6 km from the center of Poznan the journey to/from the airport by bus takes from 20 till 40 - 50 minutes because of traffic jams. Hence, Wielkopolska is interested in preparing a pre-investment study on building a fast railway connection between the main railway station in Poznan and the airport Poznan - Lawica.
Poznan-Lawica Airport, built in 1913, is one of the oldest airports in Poland. The airport operations include international, domestic and cargo flights and general aviation. A new terminal was opened in 2001 and can handle up to 1.5 million passengers per year. To implement the results of the CHAMPIONS project the airport Poznan has useful cooperation with the Wielkopolska Marshal Office, and furthermore purposes numerous contacts and exchanges for project implementation.

major part of APT is to make its experiences available for the partners

Wroclaw is the chief city of the historical region of Lower Silesia in south-western Poland, situated on the Oder
river. The Municipality of Wroclaw has successfully applied for several European co-funding opportunities in the
